Back to Reality OU

Ice and snow (approximately 7 inches on average, according to the National Weather Service) brought busy campus life in Norman to a standstill, well sort of. With classes cancelled and mobility limited, students opted to keep their weekend plans closer to home. "The grocery store still had food on the shelves," said senior Andrea Shannon, "but the liquor store was cleared out."

On an average Friday night in Norman, most students don't think much about dropping by a friend's party at The Cottages or making a Taco Bell run. However, drastic revaluations were made upon realizing asphalt street were looking more like skating rinks, cars and SUVs had morphed into popsicles, and the same fate could possibly fall upon those who didn't have the foresight to heavily layer on The North Face gear before heading outdoors themselves.

Upon notice of class cancellations, nearly all students had the same gleeful reaction one would expect out of a typical third grader. A substantial majority of the student population spent the long weekend catching up on good times and alcohol consumption with old friends (or whoever happens to live within a one mile radius of home). Despite a temporary reprieve from reality; life as usual is all set to resume promptly Monday morning regardless of the fact that you may or may not have spent the last 72 hours in the comfort of your neighbor's hot tub, sipping hot chocolate and Peppermint Schnapps.
